Your Dua Reminder
After prayer and before sleep, the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ offered his companions a simple yet profound path to peace and eternal reward. He said that there are two actions that are so easy — yet so few consistently do them — and that whoever does them will surely enter Jannah. He taught his followers to say Subḥānallāh (Glory be to Allah), Alḥamdulillāh (All praise be to Allah), and Allāhu Akbar (Allah is the Greatest) — 33 times each after every prayer, and the same before sleep, except that Allāhu Akbar is said 34 times.
These words, though brief, are a means of immense spiritual nourishment. After prayer, they renew your heart’s connection to Allah and multiply your rewards. Before sleep, they calm the soul, replacing fatigue and unrest with tranquility and remembrance. When Fāṭimah (RA) once sought a servant to ease her household burden, the Prophet ﷺ lovingly advised her and ʿAlī (RA) to recite these words instead — saying, “That is better for you than a servant.”
سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ
Subḥānallāh – Glory be to Allah
الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ
Alḥamdulillāh – All praise be to Allah
اللّٰهُ أَكْبَرُ
Allāhu Akbar – Allah is the Greatest
When to Say:
-
After every obligatory prayer: 33x Subḥānallāh, 33x Alḥamdulillāh, 34x Allāhu Akbar, followed by:
لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ وَحْدَهُ لَا شَرِيكَ لَهُ لَهُ الْمُلْكُ وَلَهُ الْحَمْدُ وَهُوَ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ
Lā ilāha illallāhu waḥdahu lā sharīka lah, lahul-mulku wa lahul-ḥamdu wa huwa ʿalā kulli shay’in qadīr.
(“There is no god but Allah alone, without partner. His is the dominion and His is the praise, and He is over all things capable.”) -
Before sleep: 33x Subḥānallāh, 33x Alḥamdulillāh, 34x Allāhu Akbar
