Michael is highly inspired by his surroundings and often makes sculptures of objects that might otherwise be overlooked in the everyday. Nature is his biggest muse, as is the handmade process.

The Dogwood series finds its inspiration in the exquisite blossoms of the native North American flowering tree. Hand-forged in metal, the Dogwood pieces feature delicate white enamel petals and branches finished with oxidized brass. These beautifully crafted items seamlessly blend into both traditional and modern environments.

"I wanted to capture the drama and beauty of the dogwood tree as I remembered them from my childhood. There is something significant and tender about the mix of bronze branches and soft hued blossoms." ~M.
