A Reef-Textured Ceramic Trio

Coco Pots Coral is a three-piece set from the Chelsea Gardener collection, glazed to look like reef pulled up and dried in the sun.

The Glaze Does the Work

The form stays simple on purpose: an egg-round body, narrow foot, thin rim curling inward. The surface is the reason to buy. A reactive glaze bubbles and pits in the kiln, cratering deeply in some patches and skinning into a fine crust in others. No two sets of these glazed ceramic planters carry the same pattern.

Nine Colorways

They read very differently. Coral Aqua is pale seafoam over white crust. Coral Rust and Coral Bronze burn copper into dark hollows. Coral Black and Coral Grey stay nearly monochrome. Coral Green and Coral gem Green pick up verdigris flecked with rust. Fired by hand, so your color shifts a shade from the photo, the trade you make with handmade ceramic planters. Three Sizes, One Grouping

Small is 12.0" D x 11.0" H, medium 15.0" D x 13.0" H, large 19.0" D x 17.0" H. The set ships at 100.0 lb. Stage them in a tight triangle, not a row, so the curves overlap. The two bigger pieces hold their own as large ceramic planters apart. Being handcrafted planters, the three differ from each other too.

Where the Set Belongs

A pool deck corner, a front stoop, one either side of a garage bay. As modern outdoor planters the rounded body softens flat stucco and board-formed concrete. These are decorative garden planters that earn attention empty, so leave the small one unplanted if the grouping feels busy.

What to Plant

The inward rim suits low mounded growth that breaks the edge. Agave 'Blue Glow' in the large. Golden barrel cactus in the medium. Hardy mums in the small for October. Lavender 'Phenomenal' works if you water sparingly. Skip tall top-heavy plants, since the narrow foot gives up stability. As decorative planters near seating, keep plantings low.

Weather and Drainage

Lift each pot onto rubber pot feet so water leaves the base and the glaze does not mark decking. As ceramic outdoor planters go, high-fired stock handles winter across most of the country, but no glazed pot survives soil frozen solid, so empty or cover the set in zone 5 and colder.
