Set it on level solid ground. On soft soil this weight will settle unevenly within a season and a tilted head is very visible.
Keeping the surface right
Rinse with plain water and a soft brush. The pitted surface is meant to look weathered, so light staining and moss on the shaded side improve it rather than spoil it.
Winter
Sealed concrete handles freeze and thaw well. Because this piece has no basin there is nothing to drain, but check that water is not pooling around the base where it sits.
Moving it later
Two people, and lift from the base rather than the neck. At this weight and height the centre of gravity is high, so carry it upright rather than tilted.
