Norma Planter - A Low, Wide Ceramic Quartet

The Norma Planter is a four-piece garden planter set from the Chelsea Gardener collection, built lower and wider than most groupings sold this way.

Straight Walls, Soft Shoulder

Norma runs nearly vertical from rim to base, then turns under on a rounded shoulder at the ground. No foot ring, no rolled lip, just a thin cut edge. The largest spans 20.5" but stands only 16.5", so plants sit in a broad opening, not a deep well. Faint wheel marks mark these as handcrafted planters, not pressed forms.

Glaze, Color, and the Clay Underneath

A reactive coral glaze blisters into craters and pale crust as it cools. Check the rims for red-brown clay where the glaze breaks. Four colorways: charcoal under ash-grey crust in Coral Black, copper over brown in Coral Bronze, verdigris over rust in Coral Gem Green, chalky pebbled white in Coral White. Every firing of these glazed ceramic planters differs, so with handmade ceramic planters the four will not match exactly.

Four Sizes, One Arrangement

Sizes run 10.0" D x 9.5" H, 13.0" D x 12.0" H, 16.0" D x 14.0" H, and 20.5" D x 16.5" H, at 93.0 lb shipped. Four graduated pieces at one price make this a Premium ceramic planter set. Cluster the two large ceramic planters and push the small pair to one side.

Where It Works and What to Plant

The clean cylinder suits board-formed concrete, corten steel, and stucco, making it a modern ceramic planter set. Along pool coping or a low deck these decorative outdoor planters never block a sightline, since nothing tops 17 inches. Plant to that depth. Agave 'Blue Glow' in the 20.5", aeonium 'Kiwi' in the 16.0", sedum 'Angelina' spilling out of the 13.0", hens and chicks in the 10.0". Extend the run with Coco Pots Coral or drop a decorative sphere into the gaps.

Care Through Winter

Raise each pot on feet so water clears the base. High-fired outdoor ceramic pots take cold well, but soil frozen solid cracks any ceramic, so cover the set in zone 5 and colder.
