A Scalloped Rim Beats a Smooth One
The basin is a shell, ribs radiating from the centre out to an edge that rises and falls with them. Two cast birds sit on the rim. The base opens into a planting bowl, shown here with pink daisies in it.
That wavy edge is doing work. A smooth stone rim is slick once wet, and a bird lands on the rim and settles before it steps in. The dips between ribs give it somewhere to hold.

Drain the basin before the first hard frost. At 4.4 pounds it comes inside easily for the season, and the base bowl can be emptied or replanted.
