Fill it, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury.
Level it carefully. On a still surface with rim overflow, any tilt sends all the water off one side and the mirror effect is lost. This matters more here than on any cascading design.
Getting the reflection
Place it where there is something worth reflecting. Open sky, overhanging foliage, or a planted background all read in the surface. Under a solid roof or against a blank wall the water is just water.
Keep the bubbler low. Turning the flow up disturbs the surface and you lose the reflection, which is the main reason to own this shape.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the reservoir to cover the pump at all times. A wide open surface loses water to evaporation faster than an enclosed design, so check every few days in warm weather.
Skim leaves off promptly. On a still surface a single leaf is highly visible and it also interrupts the even overflow at the rim.
Looking after the finish
In hard water areas a pale film builds at the rim where the water leaves, and on a smooth grey band that shows clearly. Clean it before it sets. The vertical ripple texture on the wall hides marks well, so most cleaning is at the top edge.
Winter storage
Before hard freezes, drain the reservoir completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and let the piece dry out. The open top collects rain and snow all winter, so cover it once drained.

Is there a waterfall?
No, and that is the point. A low jet rises at the centre and the surface stays flat enough to reflect. If you want falling water and the sound that comes with it, choose a tiered or rockery design instead.
