Water level and daily care

Cleaning the ribbed surface
In hard water areas mineral film builds inside the fine horizontal grooves, which is where it is hardest to remove once set. Wipe the wet faces with a soft cloth regularly rather than waiting for it to show. Keep harsh liquid cleaners off the finish, and do not use anything abrasive on the ribbing.
Winter storage

What background does it need?
A pale one. White fencing, light render, pale gravel, or a light wall. Dark slate against pale background makes the staggered outline read from anywhere in the garden. Against a dark fence or a dense hedge the shape flattens and disappears by mid afternoon, which is the most common way people are disappointed by a dark piece.
Is it really quiet enough for indoors?
Yes, and that is the main reason to choose it over other tall pieces. The ribbed channels prevent free fall, so there is no impact sound. Indoors it reads as background rather than as a feature. You need an outlet within reach and a floor that tolerates the occasional splash, but the sound will not be the problem.
How is it different from the smooth faced water walls?
