Setup, Care, and Warranty
Setup and placement
Fill the reservoir, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury. Set it level before filling, and on this design level matters more than usual. The water path already runs sideways by design, and a tilted base pushes it further until a ledge overshoots its landing and water runs down the outside of the column instead of onto the next tier.
Face it where you will actually be sitting. The zigzag reads from the front and is largely lost from the side.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the reservoir to cover the pump at all times. A single stream travelling this far loses more to evaporation than the height alone suggests, so check the level every few days and more often in heat and wind.
Clear leaves off the ledges. On a lateral path a leaf near an edge sends the whole stream off course, and you will see the zigzag break before you find the cause.
Cleaning the slate texture
The stacked slate surface is what carries the look, so wipe it with a soft cloth and keep harsh liquid cleaners off it. In hard water areas a pale film builds along the wet edges of each ledge, and on a textured surface it is much easier to remove before it sets than after.
Winter storage
Before hard freezes, drain the reservoir and every basin completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and let the column dry out. Water left standing in a ledge through a freeze and thaw is what damages stacked designs.

What does serpentine mean in practical terms?
Each of the seven ledges is offset to the left or right of the one above it, alternating as you go down. Is it quieter than a multi tier cascade?
