Fill it, plug it in, done. No plumbing and nothing to bury. Concrete has real mass, so plan the position before filling.
Level it carefully. On a piece built from two clean geometric shapes, any tilt is immediately visible in a way it would not be on a rockery design.
Choosing the background
Pale concrete against a dark hedge reads as a bright shape, which is usually what you want. Against pale render it becomes quieter and more architectural. Both work. What does not work is a busy planted background, where the circle loses its outline.
Water level and daily care
Keep enough water in the base to cover the pump so it never runs dry. Water running down a surface loses less to drift than a free fall, but check every few days in warm weather.
Keep the ribbed panel clear. Debris caught in the scoring diverts the flow into channels and breaks the even sheet.
Caring for cream concrete
Pale concrete shows marks that grey hides. In hard water areas a white film builds where the water runs, which on cream is less visible than on dark stone but still worth cleaning before it sets. Use a soft brush and water, and keep harsh liquid cleaners off. Moss on the shaded side is normal and generally improves the piece.
Winter and freezing weather
Dry concrete handles cold. Water freezing inside it is what causes cracking. Before hard freezes, drain the base and the panel completely, disconnect and store the pump indoors, and let the piece dry. Cover it once drained so rain does not refill the bowl.

Where does it belong?
Modern and minimal gardens, courtyards with clean walls, a terrace beside a contemporary extension, gravel with ornamental grasses. It answers architecture rather than planting. In a cottage border or a rustic setting it will read as out of place regardless of quality.
Is it real concrete?
Yes. The speckled aggregate is visible in the surface, which is how you can tell. That means real weight, a matte finish, and a surface that ages rather than fading. It also means winter draining matters more than on resin.
Why cream instead of grey?
Most modern fountains are dark, which means they need a pale background to be legible. A cream piece is legible against dark planting and against pale walls, so it is easier to place. It also stays cooler to the touch in direct sun.
Is it safe around children and pets?
Concrete weight makes it stable, but the upright ring should not be pushed or leaned on. Set it on level solid ground out of the main running route, and run the cord along a bed edge so it will not catch a foot. The recirculating water is not intended for drinking.
